Your first visit to a new dentist can be full of unknowns. What will the team be like? Will I have time to ask questions? What will happen during my first appointment? For patients who find a trip to the dentist a particularly anxious experience, this can be an even more stressful time. We understand what it is like being new, so we work incredibly hard to make every step as easy as possible for you.
As a new patient, you will have an extended appointment time booked for you, so there is no rush and you’ll have plenty of opportunities to ask questions and discuss your oral health.
After your first visit, we usually recommend you come in to see us for a thorough examination once or twice a year, depending on your individual requirements. We would also recommend these appointments are combined with regular hygiene therapy sessions.
Whatever you decide, we hope that you leave your first visit to Highfield feeling supported, satisfied and that you have found a dentist you can really trust to put your individual needs and wishes above all else.
What to expect from your new patient appointment
Be prepared for the examination to last up to 40 minutes. We like to make sure we give you more than enough time to discuss anything you like, and get to know us better.
- Guided tour of your mouth using x-rays and digital scanner as well as photos using our state of the art intra-oral camera.
- Oral cancer screening
- Examine teeth and gums
- Time to explain our findings and recommendations
