At Highfield, we understand that for many patients it can be an incredibly distressing experience to lose a tooth, or even several teeth. We pride ourselves on building deep, long lasting relationships with our patients, and when we see one of them go through this upsetting scenario, it is wonderful to be able to help.
A dental bridge is one of the options we offer to replace one or more missing teeth. The laboratory-made bridge is secured in the mouth by connecting it to the teeth either side of the gap. If you have experienced tooth loss, our experienced dentists will take the time to carefully examine your mouth and answer any questions you may have about the options available to you. Due to the way a bridge is secured, they will only be able to recommend this treatment if there are healthy teeth either side of the gap to support the new bridge
Once you have had a chance to think over your options, if you decide to go ahead with a dental bridge, your dentist will help to arrange the appointments you will need. These will include removing a little of the enamel from the supporting teeth, so the bridge will fit.
Your clinician will then take an impression of your mouth and gums, which is sent to a dental laboratory to make your bridge. Once it is ready you will return to get the bridge fitted using a strong dental cement. We find it helps patients feel reassured in the treatment process if you know you will see the same dentist every time, and your dentist will be with you at every step.
A dental bridge is a great long-lasting solution to a lost tooth or teeth, but one does rely on the supporting teeth remaining healthy and strong. We would recommend you attend regular hygiene therapy sessions once your bridge is fitted to help ensure that your new bridge is able to give you a confident smile for years to come.
