Let's assess your smile
3
Begin wearing your aligners

When your Invisalign aligners are ready, we will show you how to wear them, how to clean them, and how to look after them. You should wear your aligners for 22 hours a day, and remove them to eat meals and snacks and clean them twice a day.

4
Treatment monitoring at home

We use an app called Dental Monitoring that you can download to your smartphone. This allows us to remotely check in on your treatment, meaning less visits are required to the dental practice. Our patients love this because it saves time and gives them a way to send messages with questions about their Invisalign treatment.

5
Smile maintenance

Once your treatment is complete, you will receive removable retainers as part of your Invisalign package. Your dental team will explain how often these should be worn to maintain your new smile.

Invisalign in Southampton and the New Forest

We know that many of our patient’s wish for straighter teeth but are put off by the thought of visible treatment and a lengthy process.

Recent developments mean there are some fantastic discreet options available, and one of these treatments is Invisalign clear aligners.

Invisalign uses removable clear plastic aligners, instead of fixed braces, so no brackets or wires are required. Individually made for each patient, the trays fit comfortably over the teeth like a mouth guard, gradually and gently moving and straightening the teeth.

You will need to change aligners approximately every two weeks, as your teeth start to move. It is possible to plan ahead but you will need to come into the practice for assessments and impressions approximately every 4-6 weeks, which is slightly more often than with traditional fixed braces.

Although you can remove the retainers, to achieve the best results in the quickest time, we always advise patients to wear them as much as possible, ideally around 22 hours each day (which quickly becomes a habit once you are used to them).

If you are keen to discuss how you can discreetly straighten your teeth with the Invisalign system, our dentists will be happy to answer any questions you may have so you can make a considered, informed decision. Book your free consultation today.

The benefits of Invisalign

The Invisalign aligner system is an incredibly discreet and private way to help you achieve a smile you are proud to show off.

Many of our patients tell us that people standing right in front of them are not aware that they are wearing the aligners at all.

If your clinician feels Invisalign is a suitable treatment option for you, based on not only your clinical needs, but also your emotional and financial considerations, they will create a ClinCheck video, which gives you an opportunity to see how the Invisalign will work during the treatment and what the end result will be.

Using aligners rather than traditional fixed braces means that you don’t have to worry about food getting caught as you can remove them for mealtimes and special occasions.

Your oral health is also well maintained as you can remove the aligners to fully clean them and your teeth, but we would still recommend you attend your regular hygiene therapy appointments.

Remote monitoring - saving you time

Dental Monitoring is a convenient and secure app that lets your dentist remotely check on the progress of your Invisalign treatment.

All you need to do is download the Dental Monitoring app and then upload photos of your smile. Your dental team will be able to see your images and provide feedback and recommendations on which set of Invisalign aligners to wear next and when to book your next review appointment.

The Dental Monitoring app can save you time as you will not have to visit us in the clinic so often – we will be able to see how your Invisalign aligners are working using the images you provide. This app is easy to use and provides the functionality to send a secure message within the app to ask questions about your treatment… Our patients love it!

Invisalign FAQs

How much does Invisalign cost?

Invisalign treatment costs between £3495 - £4995, take a look at our packages above. As each patient has different requirements the exact price of your treatment will be dependent on your individual needs. We will be able to give you a clear breakdown of the cost during your free consultation.

Do you offer finance for Invisalign treatment?

We know that dental treatment can be difficult to budget for, which is why we are pleased to offer finance options with low interest and no deposit designed to make it easier to pay for the Invisalign treatment you desire.

Am I suitable for Invisalign treatment?

Suitability for Invisalign treatment will depend on your individual needs. During your clinical evaluation we will be able to advise whether aligner treatment is a suitable solution for you or whether alternative treatment would be more beneficial.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

The length of your Invisalign journey depends on the complexity of the treatment and will depend on your unique needs. Invisalign treatment can last between 3 and 18 months, depending on how much movement is required. During your initial consultation, your dentist will provide you with a more detailed timescale.

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign works using clear aligners that fit over the teeth. These gently move the teeth into the desired, straighter position over time. The aligners are worn in sequence, each one moving the teeth a little more than the previous one. Your dentist will closely monitor your treatment via the Dental Monitoring app and in-clinic appointments to ensure everything is moving as predicted.

Can you show me Invisalign before and after pictures?

We have many Invisalign before and after images with our own patients that we can share with you during your free consultation. These can be useful to help you visualise your own smile results. In addition, we will also create a Clincheck video, which will show you your own predicted end result.

What are aligners made of and what do they look like?

Invisalign clear aligners are made of strong, medical-grade thermoplastic material, uniquely developed for the Invisalign system. The aligners are custom-made for you to fit over your teeth and they are completely clear and almost invisible when worn.

How often must I see you once I have started treatment?

In most cases, patients will attend for Invisalign appointments every 4-6 weeks. During this appointment, we will check to ensure treatment is progressing as it should and provide you with your next set of aligners.

Does Invisalign treatment hurt?

Some people may experience aching teeth for a few days when they begin wearing a new aligner. This is normal and is a sign that the aligners are working and moving your teeth. This is discomfort rather than pain, and it eases quite quickly. All our patients manage it with over-the-counter painkillers, such as paracetamol, and a soft diet for a few days.

I’ve heard of Invisalign ‘attachments’, what are they?

Sometimes small ‘attachments’ are bonded onto teeth to help achieve certain tooth movements. While you may be able to feel these, you will get used to them quickly. They are always tooth coloured to ensure they are discreet.

How do I clean my Invisalign aligners?

To clean your Invisalign aligners, simply remove them, rinse with cold water, and brush gently with your toothbrush. Never use warm or hot water as this may cause your aligners to lose their shape, meaning they won’t work properly.

Can I drink tea and coffee with Invisalign?

You cannot eat or drink anything other than cool water while wearing your Invisalign aligners. This is because tea and coffee could stain your aligners, making them more obvious while you are wearing them, and the heat from the drink may cause damage, too. We don’t want you to miss your caffeine fix… in order to drink tea and coffee, just remove your aligners first.

How do I fix a broken Invisalign aligner?

Don’t worry, it happens! If you break one of your Invisalign aligners, don’t try to fix it, instead contact us on 023 8055 7063 or via your Dental Monitoring app as soon as possible. We will be able to advise the best course of action.

Do I have to change my diet with Invisalign?

One of the many benefits of Invisalign is that it doesn’t need to affect your diet at all. This is because whenever you eat or drink anything, you must remove your aligners first - this prevents staining and breakages, and also stops food and bacteria becoming trapped in your aligners.
